Qualifications

Mr. Woo is a Certified General Appraiser in the state of California, but has also appraised properties in Arizona, Illinois, Nevada, Texas, and Washington. He has been appraising a wide range of commercial property types since 2005. His experience includes appraisal analysis, highest and best use analysis, feasibility analysis, and due diligence. 

In addition, Mr. Woo is an MAI designated member of the Appraisal Institute.

MAI Designation

The MAI designation of the Appraisal Institute is held by appraisers who are experienced in the appraisal of a wide range of property types including industrial, commercial and residential, and advise clients on real estate investment decisions. The MAI designation is considered to be the highest level of accreditation in the real estate appraisal industry. Individuals who obtain the designation have demonstrated professional knowledge, understanding, and ability.

Requirements for Designation

In addition to holding a general state certification (or equivalent) and possess good moral character, a general Candidate must successfully complete the following requirements:

1) Standards and Ethics Requirement

Complete the following courses:

  • Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)
  • Business Practices and Ethics

2) College Degree Requirement

Candidate must have received at least a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.

3) Report Writing & Case Studies

Attend and pass exam for General Appraiser Report Writing & Case Studies course.

4) Advanced Level Courses

Attend and pass exams for the following advanced courses:

  • Advanced Income Capitalization
  • Advanced Market Analysis & Highest and Best Use
  • Advanced Concepts & Case Studies
  • Quantitative Analysis

5) General Comprehensive Examination

Successfully complete the 4-part modular exam derived from the AI body of knowledge.

6) Specialized Experience Requirement

Receive credit for 4,500 hours of specialized work experience.

7) General Demonstration of Knowledge Requirement

Showcase ability to either provide the most complete presentation of a property appraisal at a given time or develop well-researched topics that add significantly to the body knowledge.

8) MAI Membership Application

Submit final application for approval once all requirements above are completed and credit is received.
